KALAKAN means
chatter in Euskara, language from Basque country. And language is the
first music.
KA is the raw, primitive and concessionless sound of Txalaparta.
LA represent the full, nasal voices, like soft and generous gaitas on a
jota (Spanish traditional dance).
KAN is the power of the tribal tones of traditional percussions.
Dusting the basque music codes, KALAKAN sing their origins to transmit
this music both rooted and contemporary.
Through the simplicity of the basque singing, with a percussion
background, KALAKAN chooses the essential : rhythm and melody, starting
points of a constant quest of emotion. They explore the basque
traditional repertoire with a greed for rediscovery.
