"An
expert in the little buttons that cover the side of the accordion,
Cyrille Brotto makes album after album a poetic copy of the beast that
he carries at the end of those straps, making it breathe quite
literally through his interpretations of traditional types of music.
Listening to it, you would say that the wind really can sing." - TOCADE
"Naturally the parallel with Marc Perrone was obvious at first, but the
delicacy and richness of Cyrille Brotto’s accordion playing meant that
he quickly set himself apart. With the album “Courant d’Air”, Cyrille
Brotto pulled out all the stops. He knows how to choose an original
repertoire, which he plays wonderfully, and how to surround himself
with musicians of worth." - Thierry Laplaud – TRAD MAGAZINE
"From
his home in the Lot, Cyrille Brotto started putting the accordion
straps on at the age of twelve, and, just as some people live with a
pacemaker or silicon lungs, he has been dragging around his accordion
ever since, as if it were a part of him. You can really feel that he
lives for music. You get the impression that he loves the music that
hails from this place, while still looking elsewhere for influences. A
graduate in musicology, this man from Agen honed his skills in
traditional music at National School of Music in the Aveyron. He
breathes new life into “trad”, as it is known, and out of old tunes
from the past, he makes music that is “free and innovative” - and that
is no mean feat."
